Here the pumping can continue even if the pressure brings down. The pumps use compressed air ranging from 1 bar to 10 bar. Therefore, the pump continues its operation despite any pressure drop. The high pressure pumps are constructed to help the oscillating pressure principle. They feature components such as: Drive piston, Suction chamber, Diameter plunger, Air piston joint, Inlet and Outlet check valves.
Here the air piston joint is attached to small diameter plunger, and the pressure ratio determines the maximum outlet pressure. By increasing the pressure ratio, higher outlet pressure can be achieved.
These are self-priming pumps, and do not require airline lubricator. With upstroke of the drive piston, there is flow into the suction chamber. This effect opens the inlet check valve, while the outlet check valve is closed. And the down stroke creates the necessary pressure for applications. This closes the inlet check valve, and opens the outlet check valve. And then the pressure is transferred to the application.
High pressure pumps include automatic cycles, and the cycles slow down due to pressure build-up. The pump stops automatically with equal output pressure forces. If there is a change in the air drive pressure, the pump restarts.
